Pairings: 1x2
Warnings: Songfic, lime, angst, sap
Rating: PG-13ish
Disclaimers: I don't own Gundam Wing or the
G-Boyz…wish I did cuz I'd have a field day inspiration
wise. Eye candy…. As of the whole U2 thing, I don't
own any rights to Electrical Storm or the band or the
CD (The Best of 1990-2000 & the B-sides)- which is
very good in and of its self.
Feedback: Comments? Criticism? Doesn't matter…just
be nice.
Notes: If any of you haven't heard 'Electrical Storm'
by U2- the version mixed by William Orbit- then I
suggest you do so right away. It's a wonderful song
and is a good listen at any level. I kinda got hooked
on my trip to Traverse City and have just obtained the
cd (curses Anime for draining cd funds…)

Flash backs will be noted…
Electrical Storm by Zanthra
//The sea it swells like a sore head
And the night, it is aching
Two lovers lie with no sheets on their bed
And the day it is breaking//
A lone boy leans against a rock, staring out over the
endless blue waves of the ocean. A gust of wind stirs
his hair, swaying his long chestnut braid; enticing it
to join in the flight through the treetops. Duo
Maxwell, his ageless violet- blue eyes scanning the
dark cloud sky, sighed at his musings. It wasn't his
fault that he loved the other pilot- especially during
war times. It just sort of happened. He'd awoken one
morning to find himself continually gazing at the
sleeping form across the small dormitory they'd been
sharing- his view of on his reality completely
changed. His world altered beyond repair.
Heero… The word caught in his throat, almost causing
him to cry at the sweet perfection and beauty that was
so close, yet so far out of reach. Thunder
reverberated through the air- the tingle of static and
electricity sending a shudder through his body. The
rain was coming and he was joyful to let it happen.
// On rainy days we'd go swimming out
On rainy days, swimming in the sound
On rainy days we'd go swimming out//
Water fell from the sky in dancing pearls of the
refreshing rejuvenate of all life. It churned the
sea, turning the blue waters black and gray, and
splashed in the sand and along the walk. Duo grinned
into the face of the clouds, pulling off his
windbreaker and tee shirt. He let the water droplets
and wind dance across his bare chest. It was
uplifting- feeling clean after so much blood…
The boy took off at a dead run- his braid flying
behind him; his bare feet caking with the wet sand
surrounding him. He laughed, a light melodious sound,
defying the gods above. Running and skipping, dancing
and laughing, he made his way down the stretch of
beach- his footprints washed away by the crystalline
rain.
// You're in my mind
All of the time
I know that's not enough
If the sky can crack
There must be some way back
For love and only love
Electrical Storm…//
Heero watched his friend and partner in war's escapade
along the shore. Sad despite the happiness he felt in
observing Duo- in being near the other boy- he sat
gazing out the window at a world he'd never be able to
touch. He barely got true glimpses of it to begin
with. Pressing his palms against the glass, he wished
he could shed his mask- the chains that bound him to a
lifeless existence- and join the exuberant person who
was dancing in the rain. To join the boy who'd
unknowing stolen his heart and continued to gain a
tighter hold over it with each passing day.
// Car alarm
Won't let you back to sleep
You're kept awake
Dreaming someone else's dream
Coffee is cold
But it'll get you through
Compromise
That's nothing new to you//
Duo turned restlessly in his sleep. Heero'd left for
a mission three days ago and wasn't back yet.
Lightning cracked, shaking the walls and waking the
boy lying in the bed. He pushed his braid back over
his shoulder and pulled his blankets up closer around
his neck. Reveling in the warmth they provided, he
found himself thinking back to the day in the rain-
the day Heero'd left.
~Flashback~
Duo walked in the door- wet hair and pants clinging to
his skin, his earlier discarded shirt and jacket
hanging over his arm. He crossed the living room to
the fireplace they kept going around the clock in the
futile attempt to deter the chill of the sea. He
striped out of his pants and hung the wet clothing to
dry before heading up to take a warm shower.
Opening the door to their room slowly, he found Heero
sitting on the window ledge- staring out into the
night and the resounding downpour the light drizzle'd
turned into.
"Heero?"
The boy turned at the sound of his name- a deep
sadness overflowing in his icy blue eyes. It was gone
before Duo could truly grasp and assess the meaning of
what he'd seen. He filed the thought away for further
evaluation at a later point in time.
"I'm going to take a shower…"
Heero nodded, words seeming inadequate in the
comfortable silence. Duo smiled at the picture it
made. He looked so innocent sitting there- his worn
jeans and open button-up shirt giving the illusion of
a care-free lifestyle; the rain coming down behind him
complimenting the turmoil he'd seen in his friend's
eyes a moment ago. He shook his head and grabbed a
dry outfit and towel before heading to the bathroom.
He came back to find Heero gone- the note on his bed
the only sign anyone's been on his side of the room at
all.
'Duo,
Got called away on a mission.
Should be back in two days.
-Yuy 01'
A silent tear slid down Duo's cheek as the note
drifted to the floor. At least he'd been considerate
enough to leave a note. It wasn't' much, but it's
have to due…
~End Flashback~
A bittersweet memory, to be sure. And those eyes- it
was haunting the amount of emotion they held. He
realized now that it wasn't so much sadness ads a deep
forlorn longing. The want of the untouchable. Duo
knew the feeling well.
// Let's see colors that have never been seen
Let's go to places no one else has been//
He was running. Heading for the sound of a door
closing before it could even register in his mind. He
was back and that was what mattered; he was alive.
Following his emotions, Duo was out the door and
through the break in the weather- speeding towards the
person who'd just stepped from the car. He jumped
then- launching himself to cling to the shocked boy.
He couldn't help laughing; the relief was
overwhelming. Duo knew he was making a spectacle of
himself, though the only person around was Heero, and
that the stoic pilot would probably kill him later for
the invasion of personal space. It didn't matter-
none of it mattered except that Heero was back and
safe.
// In my mind
All of the time
I know that's not enough
If the sky can crack
There must be some way back
To love and only love//
Duo sat quietly under the inquisitive gaze of his
fellow pilot. He swung his feet back and forth,
trying not to concentrate on the butterflies in his
stomach. Heero wanted to know. He'd asked about
earlier and then seemed to care what was wrong when
Duo'd tried to flee from the hole he'd dug himself
into. He was now pacing around the room- trying to
formulate a plan to get Duo to talk, by the look on
his face. Duo could almost see the gears turning
inside the other'' head.
"Duo…" The silence was broken. He looked ready to
continue, but didn't. A look of uncertainty flitted
across his features. The feeling in his eyes was back
and this time didn't' go away so easily.
Duo sighed and stood suddenly, a look of determination
settling into place. He moved stealthily up behind
his brooding friend. Heero chose that moment to turn
around and before he'd had time to react, Duo'd
pressed his lips to Heero's.
Heero stood motionless for seconds that seemed an
eternity as Duo kissed him- lost in a slightly shocked
stupor. It passed quickly and he was soon fervently
returning the favor.
// Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Baby don't cry//
They reluctantly broke away from each other, not
relinquishing their hold on the other. Breathless,
Heero brushed a few stray strands of hair out of Duo's
eyes- marveling at the beauty of them and what he
found in them.
"Ai...ai shiteiru, my beloved Duo."
A tear made its way down Duo's cheek and he brushed it
away too.
// It's hot as hell
Honey, in this room
Sure hope the weather will break soon
The air is heavy, heavy as a truck
Hope the rain will wash away our bad luck//
Duo lay in bed, the lights dimmed, entangled in the
bed sheets and Heero's arms. A bead of sweat trickled
down the side of his face and Heero licked it away
before it could reach his ear. Heero shifted under
Duo, causing his to moan quietly at the feel of skin
against skin. It was still a wonder in and of itself
that Heero would want him; love a person like him.
The very thought heightened the sensation of the
feelings.
A hand ran gently through Duo's unbound hair- an
action that he hoped would become more frequent. His
contented sigh wasn't' heard over the light
pitter-patter of rain on the window. He closed his
eyes, knowing that there wasn't a thing that could
make the evening more perfect.
Something across the room beeped. Heero opened his
eyes slightly, trying to place the familiar noise.
What the Hell…?
// The sky can crack
There must be some way back
For love and only love//
Duo was ready to beg. In all reality, he was ready to
do any myriad of things, from teaching Heero's laptop
to fly[1], to strangling the doctors with his bare
hands, to fucking Heero senseless. Maybe not in that
order though… Oz could screw itself for all he cared.
Whatever the mission- it could wait.
"Heero… Why can't one of the others take it?!"
Heero, who was just as happy as Duo, shook his head.
It wouldn't work.
"In the only one in the group with the required
computer skills…" Damn. He hated his training at that
moment…as if he didn't hate it most of the time. He
hated it more than Oz, more than any one thing he
could name except maybe Dr. Jay who'd given it to him.
// Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Electrical storm//
Duo sat on the bed, numbly watching Heero pack some of
his meager belongings into his satchel. His laptop
was the last thing to be added, causing Duo to wish
more than ever that he had followed his thoughts about
it earlier.
"I'll be back n a few days." Heero hugged his new
lover to his chest, kissing the top of his head before
letting go. With one last glance, he left the room.
// Baby don't cry
Baby don't cry
Oh baby don't cry//
Duo sprinted out the front door into the pouring rain.
His long hair flew like a cape behind him, his
crumpled boxers already wet with rain.
"Heero! Wait…"
A tousled head poked up from the other side of the car
in the driveway. As soon as he saw it, Duo was
skidding in its direction.
"Heero." Duo wrapped his arms around his wet koibito,
trying to get as close as possible. He gazed into the
endless blue steel eyes before him, smiling lopsidedly
after a moment.
"I love you. Just make sure you come back…soon."
Heero chuckled slightly when Duo added the last word;
almost like an after-thought.
"Ninimu ryoukai."
Duo rolled his eyes that the comment. Mission
accepted… He let his hand trail down the side of his
Heero's face as he backed away. The look in his
lover's eyes told him everything.
// Oh baby don't cry//
