Title: Three's not a crowd
Author: Mistress_Tsunami
Archive: if you want it, just ask. don worry, the world's coming to an end if
i say no.
Disclaimer: don't own (they wouldn't let me keep 'em), don't sue (it gives you
heart failure when you see how much it costs, and how much time it wastes, when
you could be reading good fanfiction), don't ask (you can if you really wan to),
don't answer (if you don ask, then how can i answer? I mean, I'm _not_ psy, i
don have special powers, and I can't even spell right). just give me feedback,
i live on it. i require nothing else but feedback, an ice-cream-gun, a caramel
rocket launcher, and food. oh, and a computer, but i don think that counts.
Pairings: 1+2+5, 3+4 (implied)
Warnings: sap major on my part. about G-ish to PG, i think. unless you count
sex-talk as bad, then it's a definite PG. I sowwy. I was bored and had to let
_something_ out. I promise, tho, I _will_ get to work on my no-war series
(Which I probably _should_ name, but I don't wanna 'cause I don't have a good
name yet) and my highlander xover. You wouldn't 'ave wanted me ta work on it
now NEwayz. Ask Zanny, my first idea was a long, complicated, gory deathfic.
_I_ don't even wanna 'tinue that one. Don worry, tho. My new idea has all
happy. Me got good english, too, see?

What's there to live for in this world? I mean, yeah, I know the war is over,
and yeah, I know that Hee-chan and Wuffers are the best that a guy could hope
for and I'm the luckiest guy in the world to have them both, but I just can't
help thinking that I'm just in the way. They're both working hard to help
create this new, peaceful future with a good start, but what am I doing? I sit
at home and take care of the house. What kind of work could an infiltration
expert hope to get in this new world?

And besides that, what good can come out of a three-some? Even with three in
bed, one person enters another and the other is just kinda left hanging until
one of the other two is ready to have some fun. Sure, there are _some_ ways to
get three people doin' it at once, but, I don't know, it just seems kinda...odd.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe there's nothing wrong at all with our
relationship.

How would I know? How would I know if I was doing something wrong?

Quatre and Trowa would know. They knew all three of us during the war, and
could clearly see our relationship with each other. It doesn't feel right to
ask them, though. I'd feel kinda...I don't know. It's hard to explain.

I used to think that this could never happen, that I could never get with Heero
_or_ Wufei, and so I would never have to worry about which one to chose or what
would happen to us. I never thought that it would be this complicated.

I should probably talk to Hee-chan and Wuffers about this.

They'll understand.

I hope.

[3-way telephone conversation, audio only]

"Hey Hee-chan, Wuffers."

"Koi? What's wrong?"

"What? Nothin's wro-"

"We can hear it, Duo. Something's wrong. Talk to us."

"Well...um..."

"Would you like us to come home so that we can talk about this?"

"No! No, that's all right. It's actually kinda easier this way...I was
wondering. Why do you love me when you already have each other?"

"..."

"..."

[Duo's crying could be heard through the telephone link. Heero's line goes
dead.]

"Duo, love, we love you because you're...well, you're you."

"That's not an answer, Wufei. And if Heero _really_ loved me then why is he
gone? Why didn't he answer?"

"I'm not sure, love, but you know that Heero isn't very good at expressing
emotions. He's doing the only thing he knows how to do, taking on a mission."

"A mission."

"I'm fairly certain that I heard him say 'mission accepted.'"

"What mission? I'm not important enough to even listen to anymore?"

"Love, this is too important to discuss over a phone. I want you to stay right
where you are, I'm coming home."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"'Kay. See ya soon."

"See ya soon."

[Wufei's office]

Damn you, Yuy! Just what did you think you were doing hanging up at a time
like that! Duo's in a major depression right now and it's just not fair to him
to just leave him hanging like that! If I didn't know any better, I'd swear
that you were a woman for what you just did!

============================================
[Pet shop]

"This one's awfully active, sir. You sure you want 'em?"

"He's the cutest of them all. He's perfect. I'm sure."

"All right. That'll be $50. ... Thank you for the sale!"

[Bells are heard and a puppy barks happily.]

"I'd like four dozen roses, please. One dozen black, one dozen blue, one dozen
green, and one dozen white."

"Sure thing, sir. When would you like these by?"

"Yesterday."

"Right away, then, sir."

[A dog barks, playfully tugging at a leash.]

"Calm down, little one. It won't be too much longer."

"Here you go, sir. That'll be $60. (I really don't know how much dogs or
roses cost, can you tell?) ... Thank you sir."

=======================================================

I wonder why Hee-chan - no, Heero - hung up. He must really hate me. I really
did get in the way, didn't I?

Boy, Duo. You sure screwed this one up big time. Just had to go and open your
big mouth, didn't you. But, I guess this is for the best. I wouldn't want to
go on living a false relationship, and I'm sure that not many others would
either. Especially not Heero and Wu - Wufei. It's best that I just get out of
their lives. Wufei probably just wanted to say that to my face.

Guess I'd better go pack now, before Wufei gets here.

[Door bell rings]

Wonder who that could be. Huh. No one's here.

[Bark!]

What? He's adorable! And all those roses!!

Wait.

Hang on a second, there's a note.

[Blue roses for the eyes
that never seemed to see
and green ones for the dragon
who's always there, with thee
black roses for the shinigami
who makes the trio complete

For pilot one without pilot two
would never come to be
and pilot five without pilot two
would surely cease to be

and so the white rose follows
for purity and love
for five and two, for pilot one,
are both gifts from up above.]

Ohmigod. That is so...sweet. Why am I crying?

This can't be true; he hung up on me...

================================================

Heero became worried as he saw the braided boy cry from his spot in the
shadows. He never had been good at poetry; maybe some of his lines had been
misinterpreted.

He walked up to Duo and placed a comforting hand on Duo's shoulder, smiling
what he hoped to be a reassuring smile. "You little fool. We love you. You
are _ours_, our braided baka. Just as we are yours." Heero knelt down,
wrapping his arms around Duo and nuzzling his head into Duo's hair. "We'll
love you for forever, and beyond."

Duo turned to return the embrace given to him by his lover, reveling in the
softness that was so contradictory to the hard muscles he had expected the
first time he had met the cold boy's flesh, and cried into Heero's shoulder.

It was just then that Wufei burst up the stairs and saw the two. He
immediately added his own warmth to the embrace.

"I love you guys, too," Duo finally managed between tears. "I just have one
question."

"What is it, love?" Wufei asked, concerned. His worry was mirrored in Heero's
expression.

"Can we keep the dog?"
to Tsunami’s fics.
