And I think that I kinda forgot to put a disclaimer on the other chapters, so
yeah, as you know, I don't own the G-boys or their gundams, but I'd really like
to. Unfortunately, I'm only a poor student who is bad at history.

******* *

The next few days passed by in a sort of haze for Heero. He managed to hide his
gender from Sammy and the others, and even allowed them to take him places.
Within three days he had a decent amount of clothing, mostly loose sweatpants
and some ridiculous shirts, his own pair of 'paws off' pants, and several very
close girl friends who liked him for who he was. He was slowly beginning to
open up to them. They ate together, shopped together, and wrote together. Heero
even managed to pull off a few good, if sappy, poems.

During the whole of these three days, not once did he get the chance to meet up
with Wufei, his so-called partner. Seeing as today was Friday, and Sammy wanted
him to leave with her later that evening, he felt he had the perfect excuse to
go talk to the raven-haired boy. "I'll be back in a little while," he had told
Sammy, and headed over to his 'sister's' room.

He knocked lightly on the door, and was greeted by the sight of the long,
chestnut-haired girl who must have been Wufei's roommate. On any other mission,
he would have considered her 'PRIDE AND JOY' pants and 'Princess from the other
side' shirt odd, but he didn't think they compared to his own 'What are you
looking at?' pants and 'Devils have black wings' shirt. "I need to speak with
my sister, if you don't mind."

"Not a problem, Bunny, she's back that way." Heero entered the room and was
pleased to note that the girl was on her way out. "I'm leaving for the weekend
Meiran, sure you don't want to join me?"

"I've told you before, Helen, I do not wish to see your family. One of you is
bad enough."

The girl gave a small pout. "Are you saying I'm bad?"

"No, you're too energetic for your own good."

"Oh. For a moment I thought you were insulting me." With that she left, and
Heero made his way to where Wufei was sitting on his bed, in clear view of the
door. Now that his roommate had gone, he pulled the laptop out from beneath his
bed and booted it up.

"Have you found anything?"

"Not much. According to their files, nothing could be used to make dolls."

"I found a map of the colony. We're right above the weather control system.
They can't be making dolls here, there's no place to make them."

Wufei smirked in what appeared to be satisfaction. "That is good. Then it
appears that we are here for what is supposed to be a vacation. Forgive me if I
use the word Hell." It was then that Heero noticed that Wufei was still wearing
the school uniform. "It appears, however, that you have been adapting quite
well."

Heero had the good grace to blush slightly, and had it not been for Wufei
actually looking for the reaction, he never would have seen it. "My roommate is
a bit...openly considerate. She also has no sense of modesty whatsoever. It was
a bit hard not to adjust."

"You're getting along well?"

"As would be expected. And you?"

"Besides my roommate, I have not attempted to make any friendships."

"Mine practically forced me into mine. Since we know that there are no dolls
produced here, why didn't you go with her?"

/If only you knew.../ "Don't be absurd."

"Well, I think you might want to be informed of my roommate. You'll probably be
seeing her after a while spouting something about 'not letting me go.'" Wufei
raised an eyebrow. "I plan on telling her that we were staying here to work on
some projects together."

"I see."

Silence reigned for what seemed like an eternity before Heero nodded, only
slightly, and left.

**********

He was right. Not five minutes later, Sammy was banging down Wufei's door.
"Open up Meiran!" she demanded, and when Wufei complied, she was startled to
see the later still in her uniform. "You're family must be a bunch of
workaholics, you know that! Now, I'm trying to break 'agi from that and YOU'RE
NOT HELPING! Now, me and 'agi are going to go to my house for the weekend. I
don't care what you say, she may be your sister, but she's my friend, got it?"
Not waiting for an answer, she continued, "Now we're going to be coming back
around 2 Sunday afternoon, and I expect you to be ready for a shopping trip
with me and 'agi or I'll come up here and drag your ass out there myself!"

Wufei stared at the girl with mixed shock and respect. He could see what Heero
had meant about being demanding. /And he was expecting me to get him out of
this? No way! It'll probably be good for the baka./ "While I accept your offer
to take my sister with you - you raised some valid points - I refuse to let you
take me shopping."

"How does Helen ever stand you?"

"I beg your pardon?"

"Nevermind."

**********

Heero fidgeted in his seat on the bus, half sleeping. /This is a bad idea./

::You might like it.::

/This is a *bad* idea./

::She's been a great friend.::

/...bad idea. What if she finds out?/

::You think that's going to change things?::

/Yes./

::You have a mission.::

/I told you, tomorrow./

::Tomorrow's come and gone, Heero! What are you going to do, sit and wallow in
self-misery for the rest of your life?::

/...If I have to./

::I won't allow it!::

/I need a psychologist.../

::Heero!::

/My inner voice sure is whiny./

::Hmph.::

/What do you want now?/

::You asked Wufei about love, and got a straight answer, but one you weren't
sure if you understood. You were too vague! This girl isn't a complete stranger
anymore, and after this mission you can forget her if you want Mr. Stick-up-our-
ass Yuy! Tell her the whole story, but leave out names. She's a girl. She
thinks you're a girl. Not only will she not be weirded out by the fact that you
like guys, as you seem to think, she'll probably be able to help!

::AND, I don't think that she'll be uncomfortable if you tell her that you're
really a gay guy in drag. She seems to be rather...accepting.::

/But that blows my cover, and possibly Wufei's as well./

::Would you at least talk to her? Ple~ase?::

/If it'll make you shut up, fine./

::YEAH!::

/But I'm NOT telling her I'm a guy./

::Fair 'nough.::

/To-/

::Say it and die.::

***********

Heero awoke just as the bus came to a stop. "Our stop," Sammy said, pulling
Heero up behind her. They grabbed their bags and made their way off the bus.
"It's a few blocks away, about a mile. Usually I walk, but we can get a cab, if
you want."

Heero shook his head. "That's okay. I'd rather walk." Sammy smiled as she led
the way, respecting Heero's obvious need for quiet. It was late, Sammy knew,
probably around 10:30 at night, but it was that women's intuition of hers that
just knew that Heero needed to talk.

"Um, Sammy?"

"Yes?"

"I need some help." Sammy brightened at the fact that her friend was finally
opening up.

"That's what I'm here for!"

"There's this...guy, that I really like," Heero blushed, but Sammy knew better
than to comment. This was more voluntary talk than her friend had been willing
to involve herself in the entire time they had been together. "I knew him back,
during the wars, well, really well, I thought. But afterwards, we kinda drifted
apart, though still friends. I don't think either of us were ready for anything
more than that back then, what with all that was going on, but now..." Heero
paused, and didn't look to be able to continue.

"Now?" Sammy encouraged.

"Now I miss him, Sammy, and I don't know why, and I don't know what to do."
Heero had slumped during this statement. He had finally voiced aloud what he
felt and it felt like he had been sucker-punched in the gut. He looked
defeated, and he felt that way, as well. /I'll never know myself well enough to
understand what he wants...much less what I want./

"Have you spoken to him?"

He opened his mouth to answer, and then stopped. He couldn't remember the last
time he had spoken to the braided pilot. He finally settled for: "Not in a
really long time."

"Why not?"

"Well, he always sends us all these emails, telling us - "

"Wait, us?"

"Yeah, there's um...five of us, including him. He emails us to let us know how
he's doing, and all that stuff, but there's never anything specifically for me
in there. And I was just too damn confused to call him myself. I wouldn't know
what to say. I don't even know why I miss him."

"Does he miss you?"

"I...don't know."

Sammy made a sound of disappointment. "Girl, you need to loosen up. Girls call
people all the time just to talk. You don't *need* a reason to call him, just
do it. How much do you miss him, anyway?"

"A lot. I can't help thinking about him most of the time. In my dreams, it's
almost like I'm talking to him, or to somebody about him."

"Is it bad? Do you feel that something's wrong?"

Heero tried to sort through what he was feeling, and knew for a fact that she
was stalling to get home, because they had walked over a mile, and Heero
could've sworn that he'd seen that lamppost at least two or three times
already. "Not really wrong, I guess," he finally answered, after what had
seemed like an eternity of silence. "Just...not right. It hurts when he sends
those emails, and they're not just for me, it hurts that I don't see him
everyday like I did back then, it hurts to see all the innocents that died in
the war and know that while I didn't know hardly any of them, he did. He knew a
lot of people who died. He laughed, and called himself cursed to kill those he
loved. And I hurt thinking that he thought I was one of them, and when I came
back, very much alive, he cut himself off from all of us, not physically, but
emotionally. He was every part the person we knew, but it was all so fake..."

Sammy suppressed a giggle. "'Agi, darlin', it sounds like you're in love."

"Love?"

"Yeah, you know. You wanna hold and protect him, you want to touch him, you
want him to notice and care for you. You've gone and fallen for an old friend.
You're absolutely smitten."

"Is that it...?"

"Yeah, but there's something you're not telling me," Sammy mock-growled, but it
was ruined by the smile on her face.

"How - " popped out before Heero could stop it.

"Call it women's intuition. Or it might be because you only wear baggy clothes,
even when in uniform, you wouldn't try anything that fit even remotely close,
and you never change outside the bathroom. You go through great lengths to hide
something about your body, there, 'agi."

Heero didn't know what to say. He simply stared at the ground beneath his feet,
in both shock, and defeat, and even a little bit of shame. "You'd hate me if I
told you."

"What if I promised that whatever it was will not affect the way I see you in
any way and I promise not to tell another soul, living or gone."

"Well..."

"If you don't tell me, I'll strip you in your sleep and find out for myself,
cause I know for a *fact* that you're not shy Miss Usagi."

Heero believed her. "You wouldn't!" he exclaimed, but he knew for a fact that
she would. And hadn't he seen that house before? Lowering his gaze again,
staring at the sidewalk as if it could bring forth the answers, Heero finally
managed: "I'm a guy."

Sammy stared at him in disbelief for a moment before bursting out laughing.
"Oh! That was a good one, there, 'Agi." Heero stared at her in shock.

/She didn't believe me.../

"Come on, let's go home and get some sleep, it's nearly midnight and I'm
beginning to think that that brain of yours is *fried*."

Heero quietly followed her, hardly believing what he was seeing. /She didn't
believe me./

::Told ya it wouldn't change a thing. Now you see why I told ya to tell her,
cause chances are, she woulda stripped ya, and what fun that woulda been to
explain to her parents...::
