"talking"

/Thoughts. In this Chapter, only Wufei's./

********

Violet eyes smiled as a simple message blinked on the computer screen before him. "The
mission has begun," was all he said in a light, respectful, happy tone.

Heero met Wufei in the Preventors lounge exactly two hours later, a light bag packed. All
he had brought with him were his two daggers, four guns and ammunition clips, and one
spare set of clothes. Wufei had nothing with him. "This way," Wufei ordered. Heero
scowled, but followed.

"I need mission details," Heero commanded right back as he climbed into the SUV that
was Wufei's prized car.

"We're going to be investigating mobile doll production on one of the L2 colonies,"
Wufei explained as he started the engine and pulled away. "In order to make our
infiltration look real, we have to do what we did during the war. Go to school. We've
both been enrolled for our senior year at the school that is supposedly the cover for the
operations. We both begin classes the day after tomorrow. Our flight is scheduled to
leave in 30 minutes. Your uniform is provided. We will gather evidence when not in
class, otherwise we are to act like normal seniors. This mission is planned to cover the
span of two weeks."

"Why so long?"

"We won't be able to get into the school's computer systems for a few days to see where
all there transactions have taken place. From there it will take approximately three days
to download everything without getting caught. We also have to assess the ability of their
dolls and the level of threat that they possess. If possible, we are to render them useless.
This is assuming that there are mobile dolls there. The extra week is to erase suspicion
from us, both before and after the mission. If there are no dolls, then we are to remain at
the school for the two weeks as 'paid vacation.'"

"There's wo-"

"It's Sally's orders, and Une backed her up," Wufei interrupted. "But that's not the worst
part." Heero raised an eyebrow. "We've been entered into Saint Mary's." He paused,
saying the next part reluctantly, as if it hurt. "Saint Mary's school for girls."

"..." Thinking of nothing to say to that, Heero summed it all up in one word. "Fuck."

"That's what I said." Wufei parked the car at the shuttle port's parking lot and climbed
out, grabbing two duffels from the trunk and handing one to Heero. "You're uniform's in
there. I suggest that you move all your stuff into one bag, as the custom people here can
be a real pain. The bag with your uniform is coated to pass metal detectors without
setting them off." Heero accepted the bag, then simply opened it and stuffed his other
duffel into it. Shouldering the bag, he followed Wufei to the shuttle, easily passing
through customs.

"Another important bit of info. We're enrolled as sisters, so we don't share the same
room, but do have all the same classes, and that will erase suspicion when we are
exchanging information. The school provides laptops, and I assume that you didn't bring
yours..." Heero nodded. "Good. That could have been trouble, since they're forbidden. I
_think_ that we were both given singles, but I can't be sure, Une said that they wouldn't
give her - by the way, she's our so-called mother - a guarantee, and she didn't want to tip
them off to our presence. She enrolled me under the name Meiran, and you under the
name Usagi, using the name Hana for herself."

"Bunny?" Heero questioned as they found their seats and awaited shuttle departure.

"Don't ask me, when I asked her, she just laughed and wouldn't answer."

"Hn."

"I'd try to get some rest once we lift off, if I were you. L2 time is different, and they'll just
be going into midday around six o clock, Earth time."

"Understood."

"Mission accepted?"

"Hai (1). Mission accepted. But Wufei, know that I hate you for this."

"I'd hate me for this too, if I had a choice in the matter."

"Who are you?"

"?"

"I'm going to - "

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Hai."

<*sigh* Maybe...you could find him when this mission is over.>

"Why?"

"Mutual."

"I don't understand."

"It hurts."

"To think about him."

"..."

"I...don't know."

"I...don't think so."

"Wuffers?"

"Since when do you know so much?"

"I don't understand."

********

"I don't understand," Heero mumbled in his sleep. Wufei looked over at him. Since when
did Heero talk in his sleep? More importantly, what didn't he understand?

Well, nothing like the direct approach.

"Don't understand what, Usagi?"

Heero blinked out of his half asleep state. It took a good five minutes, and Wufei was still
staring at his book, looking for all the world like he was the most patient guy in the
world, coaxing an answer out of his silent 'sister'.

"I'm sorry, what was that?"

"You said 'I don't understand.' What don't you understand?"

"Um..." Ok, well Humility (curse the guy) had told him to talk to Wufei, so... "Um,
Meiran? What's it like to...love someone?"

Wufei closed his book and stared hard at Heero. "Ok, what brought this on?"

"Well...someone said that I was in love with someone else, and I didn't know if it was
true or not. I mean, I miss that person, the one I'm supposed to be in love with, and I feel
something for that someone, but I don't know if it's love." And I just used up my word
quota for the day, so please don't ask any more questions this is embarrassing enough as
it is.

"Love is...very hard to describe," Wufei turned, and Heero sat back to listen, recognizing
rant mode when he saw it and for once grateful for it. "When you're away from that
person, you're sad, and you miss them. It's hard to put a definition on what you feel for
the person, though for you that can be said for any emotion. There are all different kinds
of love, as well. For example, you might love a friend. You miss them when they're away
and you like being with them. It's not the kind of love that you just walk up and say, 'I
love you,' for, though. It's more like 'I care.'

"Then there's the love you feel for that one someone special, which I assume is what
you're referring to. This kind of love is indescribable. You would do anything you could
to make that one person happy. Some even say that they would lay down their lives for
their loved ones. This kind of love is rare. And married couples always have it to a
certain extent, but it mostly lies with the women. The men are too possessive, usually, to
realize what they have, and they tend to take it for granted. Now a days, men won't lay
down their lives for their loved ones very often. They value their own lives too highly.
Not that their aren't a few good men out there, it's just that people are weak, and don't
have the necessary strength to do such a thing.

"When you find someone that you're willing to lay down you're life, your own happiness
for, then you let them know. That's when you say you love them, when your love goes
beyond simple caring and - are you even listening to me?!" Wufei demanded. Heero had
fallen asleep against the headrest once more. He had heard the entire rant, though, right
down to the 'are you listening,' and stored it away to sort through as he tried to handle his
own feelings and sort through how he felt.

Wufei smirked at the sleeping figure, a slight smile playing behind his eyes. /Maybe
there's hope for you after all,/ he thought. He turned back to his book. /You do love him,
you know. You may not have seen it, but the rest of us did. Willing to lay down your own
happiness for him, huh? I'm letting my own emotions come into play here, and that's
dangerous. It'll only confuse him. He needs to understand, and he needs to see what the
rest of us know. His life's been so hard. I'll give him up, though, if only so that he can be
happy. I know what he wants, and I'll do everything in my power to give it to him./
